Chappelle Back To Raising Hell

Dave Chappelle is back on the comedy circuit after first turning down the Comedy Central deal for 50 million and then taking some time off and getting away to Africa. Some people claimed to have been perplexed after Chappelle turned down the 50 million deal, an act which I respect. There are very few US celebs that espouse any kind of social/political analysis worth listening to and Chappelle’s (from what I’ve heard from him) isn’t exactly my cup of tea. But it’s prolly the closest thing out there. And definitely on the big-time comedy circuit.

The bottom line was, white people own everything, and where can a black person go and be himself or say something that’s familiar to him and not have to explain or apologize?

That is a statement I think most all black people in the US can understand and would agree with. Way to go Dave for keeping it real and putting your money in protest to a system of white hegemonic control of the airwaves and discourse, a place your mouth has been for some time now.

Chappelle recently broke the Laugh Factory’s endurance record by cracking jokes for 6 hours breaking the previous record of 3 and some change. Glad to have you back.
